Damage formula and Pure Attack

The literal source damage formula, unsettled Multi-hit placement, and Pure Attack tiers.

Source context and uncertainty

Source recommendations, first-person statements, and testing claims are Kanon’s. Figures are captured examples rather than universal costs or ideal builds.

Captured source update: 9/20/2026. Regional and unconfirmed details remain qualified as written.

Efficiency values assume an ideal KR end-game build at the start of Season 1, level 50 and Lava Heart armor, including support buffs. Global launch, future KR, class buffs and diminishing returns can change these values.

This guide preserves Kanon’s source statements and labels the source’s limits. Original source document · About the source and author

Damage Formula

English:

[[[((Pure Attack × Weapon Damage Boost) × Multi-Hit × Power Shard) + Attack Bonus) × Attack Increase % + PvE Attack Power + Boss Attack Power + Species Attack Power + Front/Back Attack Power] × Skill Coefficient] − [(Defense − Penetration) × 0.1]] × (Damage Boost + PvE Damage Boost + Boss Damage Boost + Species Damage Boost) × Critical Damage Boost × Double × Front/Back Damage Boost × Skill Additional Damage = Final Damage

(*0.1 multiplier after Defense-Pen is 0.01 in PVP)

This formula has been tested extensively and IS the closest damage formula we currently have - everything except for the *Multi-hit placement is confirmed.

*Multi-hit - The exact placement of Multi-hit needs to be tested more to 100% confirm its placement on the equation, there’s a chance it could be outside Attack Increase. Will update and remove this bullet once confirmed

This formula is public for the very first time with this doc…not because it’s some hidden secret, but because it was very difficult to figure out and simply put, no one has yet. There have been some general damage buckets posted and understood but this is the first detailed, specific formula that fully answers the why and how much. Math heads and theory crafters, here’s your baseline…

Important - What is “Pure Attack”?

“Pure Attack” is not an official stat in the game. It’s a label created to categorize the Attack that gets directly multiplied by Weapon Damage Boost. There are a lot of different types of “Attack” stats in-game but they are spread across the equation.

You can test the above by calculating the total Attack you get from your Weapon and removing it along with your Weapon Damage Boost % and see what the “Attack” value shows under your Stat Info > Main Stats page. The “Attack” value on here does not consider Weapon Damage Boost%

The stats that fall under “Pure Attack” is as follows:

  • Weapon Attack

  • Guard Attack

  • Accessories Attack

  • Attack Stat Lines

  • Manastone/Soulstone Attack

  • Closet

    • Further Detail

Outside of “Pure Attack” the rest of the “Attacks” are added together starting from PVE Attack in the equation above. Because this added after Attack Increase the value is less than Pure Attack. When it comes to the flat “Attack” stats the value order is:

Tier 1

  • Attack (Pure Attack)

  • Max Attack (Pure Attack)

  • Attack Bonus (within Attack Increase)

Tier 2

  • PVE Attack

  • Boss Attack

Tier 3 (Conditional)

  • Front/Back Attack

  • Species Attack

  • Critical Attack

Tier 3 stats are the worst considering they do not fall under “Pure Attack” and only get added to PVE/Boss Attack upon condition. Species being specific to mob type.
